Loodswezen is concerned with the piloting of sea-going ships. Together with other agencies, Loodswezen performs the task of nautical traffic management in coastal waters and shipping lanes.

Their main aim is to ensure and maintain aspects of safety, protect the environment and enable smooth and efficient shipping to and from the ports.
